Happy Thanksgiving!

A bit belated but Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from me and Rosa and, especially, Ainara!

Baby Battleship

A couple nights ago we tried letting Ainara cry herself to sleep. In the course of 15 minutes she cried at every pitch and volume her little vocal chords could manage, and I began to discern something curious. Without her even knowing, I could start playing Battleship with my daughter. Or, at least, she could start trying to sink my battleships…

In Battleship you take two coordinates, X and Y, and guess where the ships are. Ainara’s crying modulates pitch (think musical scale) and volume (in too many decibels). Using pitch and volume for X and Y I could start playing. It would pass the time!

But given how little sleep we’ve gotten, I’d say she already sunk our Battleship…

My Obsession with Wealth Inequality

I realize I haven’t posted much in quite a while. This doesn’t mean I’ve been sitting around doing nothing. I’ve read a lot of articles that I’d love to post… I just never get to it. I have noticed that, in one form or another, they seem to deal with the wealth inequality in America (which is even more inordinate in comparison to the rest of the world). Things like how the wealthy get various government handouts or how the wealthy think they are brilliant innovators and wealth creators (and some, but probably not most, are) but that they have more in common with psychopaths. I find this interesting considering the corporations they run have already been diagnosed as psychopathic.

All of this ties in to my worry about America’s potential decline, some of the history, etc etc etc.

I just wish I had time to read more books…

11,000

It’s been a long, long time since I wrote anything here. Being a father and working full time is one way to be very preoccupied. That being said, here’s a picture of passing 11,000 miles on my motorcycle, posted on 11/11/11 (even though the mark was made yesterday morning).
