Recoding the Site
I’m undertaking to remake the code that renders this site. The HTML and CSS has been kluged together over five years though numerous tweaks and two platform changes (raw HTML -> Blosxom and then Blosxom -> WordPress).
The goal is to have the same functionality, generally the same look and cleaner, compliant code. It’s easier than I thought now that I’ve started and I’ve got a basic template almost complete. The difficult part will be inserting the copious amounts of PHP that WordPress templates require.
Once everything is up and ready I’ll let everyone know. Who knows, I might even release the theme to the public!

Will the Unofficial Blosxom UG go dormant?

No, it won’t go dormant though it has been aweful quiet. I’m still using Blosxom for approximately 10 other sites that I’ve set up for friends and I still read the list. In fact Axel informed me today that posting to the site is wonked so I have to fix that. If only I hadn’t just worked a 12 hour day with another one tomorrow…

Cool–thanks. The site has been very helpful to me, as more of a hack than a coder. I’ve currently been searching for a plugin to display the next “x” number of blog posts and came across “moreentries”, but its description implies it’s a very inefficient solution that’s processor intensive, so I’ve been hesitant. At any rate, don’t work too hard now. :-)
