Thunder! Lightning! Hail!

It’s rare in San Francisco that we get lightning. It’s one of those things I miss about places with “real” weather. Well, we have it now, quite a large thunderstorm. And then a deluge of hail that would have woken the dead! I love it! I’ve always loved bad weather. I’m a happy man tonight. :)

I too, have always loved the bad weather … I don’t think I’ve ever actually witnessed a hail storm that bad though … storm? yes, I’ve been in plenty worse, and longer, but actual hail?

That was impressive…throw in the garbage flying all over the place, and the wind … I’m actually surprised (despite our location) that there wasn’t a tornado … probably too cold, but everything else was right on. Pretty calm, wind picks up, then blows crap all over everywhere, then dumps rain (in this case hail) like everyone in “Heaven” is having a party and they’re using San Francisco as a toilet … all at once, and two minutes later, it’s all over.

Like I said, 10 - 20 degrees warmer I guarantee we would have seen a tornado.

But I’m not a weatherman, all I do is look outside and say, “Gee, crappy weather, I might go outside” (though I’ll admit, it was a bit chilly to do such yesterday).

When I was a kid, you could say I didn’t have enough sense to come in out of the rain. I loved to stand out in the rain. I’d lie down on our front walkway, position my body into the Cingular Wireless dude, and just let the rain fall on me.

Strangely, one of my favorite kinds of bad weather is the Tornado Warning type…y’know, when a tornado has been spotted somewhere. I don’t know if it the feel of the air, or the hue that everything has but I am always out on the sidewalk just taking it all in.

The deluge of hail came mid-class. The class somewhat ceased, and we all went outside to experience it. One of the most surreal moments of my college career so far.
