Impeach the Fscker
Replace every instance of what President Bush has done and pretend that Bill Clinton had done them instead. Try it. I beg you. You would finally have a reason to actually impeach Clinton and I would join your bandwagon.
I just don’t get it. The Republicans went all out to impeach Bill Clinton when he got a blow job. That was something that should have remained between him, his wife and the idiot who blew him. His. Private. Life.
Yet here we have a Republican president who has:
Committing a fraud against the United States, for example, the President saying he has not made up his mind about invading Iraq, when all of the documentary evidence shows otherwise.
Making false statements to Congress, for example, the President saying he has learned Iraq is attempting to buy uranium from Niger, when he had been warned by the CIA not to say that.
The War Powers Resolution and misuse of government funds, for example, redeploying troops and initiating bombing raids before receiving Congressional authorization.
Federal laws and international treaties prohibiting torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment–for example, ordering detainees to be ghosted and removed–and tolerating and laying the legal ground work for torture and mistreatment
Federal laws concerning retaliations against witnesses and other individuals; for example, demoting Bunnatine Greenhouse from the Army Corps of Engineers because she exposed contracting abuse involving Halliburton.
Federal laws and regulations concerning leaking and other misuse of intelligence; for example, the President’s failure to enforce the law requiring disciplining those who leak classified information, whether intentional or not.
That’s quoted from John Conyers, the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on the Judiciary. Yes, conservatives are going to write it off as a nay saying liberal trying to bring down The Man. Those conservatives are a pack of idiots.
How long do we have to wait before civil liberties are stripped beyond repair? How long before we’re in another war that does little to defend us from actual threat? Does anyone remember bin Laden? We’re still not avenged of that mass murdering psychopath. “And, again, I don’t know where he is. I — I’ll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.” Bush said that in March, 2002. Not even a year after bin Laden’s plans killed ~3,000 people on American soil.
The points don’t even go into his authorization of domestic spying. OK, it’s necessary he claims. I disagree in many ways, but there is also a court established by FISA that he can go to. That’s too inconvenient? Screw the Law!
How in debt is this country? You know, Republicans spent a lot of money marketing the idea that Democrats are tax and spend liberal monkeys, but at least the money was there. The last Democratic president had a balanced budget. I seem to recall something about a surplus even. President Bush? Not so much. Debt. Spend. Cut taxes, sure, but spend spend spend. It’s funny, it explains why he’s never had a profitable corporation. Spend. Spend.
President Bush isn’t good for our country. He’s not a good example for Americans to imitate. Sure he’s religious, but so are many other great leaders and they never had to hold it out and flaunt it for attention. President Bush has committed impeachable offenses and therefore he should be impeached.
I bet there’s not a single Republican with the balls to consider it, though, let alone support the idea. Pathetic, spineless, cowardly, conservative. It’s sad, really, because the modern Republican party seems to be in charge. I just hope they remember that just because they win an election doesn’t make them Right. You can be a criminal, an immoral fool, a pawn, and still win an election with enough money, deceit and marketing.
If you’re a conservative and you made it this far I have this one simple request (plus some applause for going beyond my caustic words). Consider it. Consider the evidence. Consider the facts. I doubt you will, but try. Try the litmus test. Replace every instance of what President Bush has done and pretend that Bill Clinton had done them instead. Try it. I beg you. You would finally have a reason to actually impeach Clinton and I would join your bandwagon.

Sorry, try as I might, I just can’t imagine Clinton behaving like Bush; this is probably due to the fact that Clinton, while he had his shortcomings as a president, is a highly intelligent man, whom, I believe, wanted to do good works for this country…as opposed to a mindless twat who whores our country to the Christian right and his corporate contributors.
Elections are coming up, so there’s at least *some* hope that Bush may be politically lame (in addition to being just generally so) by year’s end.
Oh, and remember to ‘vote with your wallet’.

The idea with the Clinton reference wasn’t to say he was a bad guy but that Republicans might get a better idea of what I’m saying if they used their imaginations (sometimes a difficult thing) to pretend like the charges made against Bush were actually against Clinton. If that would rile them then few things will.
Vote with my wallet?

Hmmm…Clinton sold nuclear secrets and submarine secrets to the Chinese, I’d consider that pretty serious.
While impeaching might be a but strong, I don’t necessarily disagree with anything you’ve said, perspective is everything. Until the people of this country actually rise up and lobby for real change, and sorry, I don’t see either major party accomplishing that, we’re going to be stuck in the quagmire you’ve referred to in the post. Bush, Gore, Kerry, I don’t see any of them doing anything differently.
Perhaps the whole situation with the port deal and the UAE may awaken the parties to actually starting to do something *smart* for a change … the realization that if it comes from the “other side of the isle” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad idea. Along those same lines, illegal immigration … yet another issue that most people can agree on and yet leadership doesn’t do anything about it.
Go figure.
Not that they’d ever agree on anything, and I’m not going to look into it, but I would guess even the likes of Michael Savage and Al Franken probably agree on something. If that’s the case, then we may have found an issue that the government needs to stop ignoring. Anyway, I’m not soapboxing in favor of anyone, don’t pin me into a corner when the corner isn’t there.
Good fascism requires one thing to work: Mookee needs to be in charge.
