In Tahoe for the Weekend
I’m in Tahoe right now. While I do have internet access (thanks to however the owner of the MSHOME wifi network is) I’m not sure I’ll be posting much. There will be something like 15 of us here in the “cabin” and I’m sure we’re going to be busy.
Snowboarding!

Cool! That’s where we are too! Seems like everybody is, actually. We’re up in North Lake Tahoe. No snowboarding for us, though, the kids are too young. Next year, maybe. Jared will be almost five then…
I used to skateboard a lot and it seems to me that something similar, where you don’t have to hike back up the hill on your own, would be totally awesome.
btw, I am totally in awe of you — you do all the cool stuff like surfing and snowboarding.

The skating thing is one reason why I chose snowboarding (and later surfing). Even though the technical aspect of maneuvering are different I figured at least I was standing on a board!
It was crowded in Tahoe this weekend. Combine a three day weekend with known positive weather and you have a disaster for those of us who are greedy for empty fresh slopes. :)
Don’t be in awe! You are in a very different position because you have a family, but if you can get them all interested in trying either then you can do it, too. All either takes is some practice, and at least for surfing I can recommend an excellent instructor up in Bolinas (which is nice enough without trying surfing!).
Now if only my legs would stop being sore…
