Drapery (Inordinately)

Now that I have your attention… I thought I’d point out that creating subject lines for emails is something I take very seriously. Actually, not that seriously, but I get much pleasure from pulling a word or two from what I’ve written and putting it in the subject line. Out of context these things can be like poetry.

I think I’m going to start using some of the better ones for titles of articles here on the site. That’s where “A Kinder, Gentler Day in Hell” came from.

What do other people do for subject lines in email?

A the office I have a really picky method of constructing my subject: [My Company Name]/[Customer Name] ([Bug#|Ticket#]) actual subject message

For my personal e-mails, it’s hard, isn’t it? If there is no subject that makes sense because it’s just a general message about nothing, I go to wikipedia and look up to day and then say “Happy blah blah blah” for whatever cool thing happened in history for the day. So today coule be, “Happy Nirvana Day” or “Happy Preseren Day”

That’s pretty funny. I wonder if anyone’s every put together all the day events together in an iCal or vCal format for simple inclusion in a local calendar?

I know someone who is using subject lines from spam in her emails. Some of them are pretty good.

    Doug,

Well, here’s a hit for your stats. What’t happening?
Have you heard from our Mexicalli Rose?
Yes, there was a Mr. Mc Boing Boing on one of our radio stations before your time.
Tell us more about this business of the placing of spam verbage on subject lines…but, wait ’til we see you in person.

Gee, I just noticed my limited vocab is coming back to haunt me just below this space…now that’s spooky.

    Yours and hers, Dave A.
