Last Word on Stones

I promise, this is the last article (probably) about my kidney stone. Talking with NHK tonight I had a little insight. Kidney stones are people pearls.

    Ugh! Just cringe-worthy! Funny, though.

Interesting, but I don’t think anyone’s going to receive them as gifts in quite the same way as those oyster pearls. But then, what do I know?

    Yeah, true.
Still, I was thinking of turning it into the centerpiece of a ring. After all, these things are not common and could become the next highly prized jewel in the world. We could have people pearl factories! Oh, the pain!

    People pearl factories…
I’ve no idea what the market is like for those oyster pearls, but I imagine that you’d have to start out with some huge markup for the human ones. After all, no one is paying the oysters for their labor in creating their stones. I suppose with the right marketing though, the demand could be created and spun into “the next big thing” as it were. Perhaps this is something for SLC to look into.

It was recommended to me that I clone kidneys so I can start creating “artificial” people pearls. I think the first stage, however, would be to create the market demand. This requires getting the people pearls from the wild. After a while, once the demand is high enough, then create a method of mass producing the things.

In additions to kidney stones, other people pearl products could include gall stones and tonsil stones (though we’d have to find a way to get rid of the smell). Are there any other possible “jewels” in the body?
