Flicka Sticks
A martial society. Instead of actually fighting with fists, they whack each other with sticks; flicka sticks! And when they hit each other they yell, “Flicka!” Flicka sticks are bendable enough to not break bones, but stiff enough to hurt. Similar, I suppose, to the four-strip bamboo kendo practice swords.
Now, flicka sticks are used all the time and most everyone has one. If I think you’ve insulted me, I hit you and yell, “Flicka!” If you think you were flicka-ed wrongly, we get into a flicka fight. Kids are also disciplined by parents with the flicka sticks. Kids also tend to get into flicka fights alot, but adults soon learn that you only flicka someone with serious cause and effect, and ruthlessly.
This all came from a dream, and reminds me of some combination of our kendo habits in college and headslaps between jolters.
