The Millennial Project. Marshall T. Savage.
this book’s subtitle is “colonizing the galaxy in eight easy steps” and makes it look that easy. so far i’ve only read one chapter, and it looks good. it details how to colonize the oceans, and building huge floating cities that are self sufficient in almost every way. the ideas seem sound, but i don’t have the technical background to know for sure. there is an extensive bibliography if i want to check his sources, though. there are some problems he seems to gloss over, though. for example, he doesn’t really seem to touch on the environmental impact of these floating cities. farming spirulina and pumping huge quantities of cold deep sea water it seems would have some effect. [later]. finished. i like the whole premise of the book, and support the theme: we are probably the only life in the universe, and we have an obligation to seed life everywhere possible. the book outlines one possible method of attaining our destiny in space, and it is a very good one. i plan on looking online to see if mr. savage has updated information, theories, or has even started his millennial project.
